Default Aftermarket computer on 20v silver top

Been trying to hunt around for a 4age motor. I'v found a few 20v silver top motors with chopped harness's. I thought no probs just get a haltech/microtech. But i'v been told all silver tops are vvti. Is this true, if so i'd require a motec or autronic wouldn't i?

Not sure if they are vvti or not, but have a look at either Adaptronics (made in Sydney, more features than you can poke a stick at, great quality, cheap price, awesome support), I believe they may also have vvti capability. Or maybe if your reasonably electronically minded, look at the MegaSquirt (dont need to be an engineer etc... just be able to learn, they will teach you everything you need to know), these can be re-programmed to suit vvti (if they dont already support it)... but that bit should be left for people who can program assembly (not terribly hard to learn if you have done programming before)

Some outside the box suggestions for you anyways.

I'm just about to throw a Silvertop into my ta22, running a wolf. Apparently any decent computer can control the vvt. It will use an aux output. It's my understanding that it can be set up to come in at a particular rev range. So basically when you get it tuned, they run the car on the dyno with it turned off, then with it turned on. Using the two graphs you can determine the best points for vvt to start and finish. For reference, I'll be using a wolf 3d version 4.

Also, the blacktop vvt has a more advanced setup apparently. Silvertop should be dead easy though.

By the way, I don't want to hijack, but is there somewhere people trade/download wolf maps?

Silvertop is VVT so an AUX out will be fine. Also the later generation silvertops and blacktops had the VVT switched by TPS. Once the water temp is up anything above about 50% throttle will activate the VVT regardless of the revs and the VVT turns off again at about 7200 RPM.

    Cheers,
    Julian.

ya, diffrence between vvt and vvti... vvti is constantly variable, and only the more customisable (read: usually expensive) ecus deal with that.
I can let you know the cost of tuning a vvti engine from scratch on a sm4 in a few days (eep!)

Going off topic a little bit, but does a 16v turbo manifold fit a 20v head. Or has anyone ever seen a mass produced turbo mani for a 20v

Go for an Adaptronic, as mentioned they're a good price and you'll be able to get a start-up map that'll work well with little fiddling.

My Ebay turbo Manifold was for a 20V and i still had to grind away at it!

I am using a EMS stinger V3, i have found some really cheap ones on Ebay from time to time, just before i took delivery of my V3 i found a V4 for just over $700, (claimed) never used.
