Mitch... i'm afraid we're both a few years too late... there used to be a classic celica workshop in logan, "THE CELICA SHOP" i think... can't remember... but story goes the guy who ran it split up with is wife, and she took everything...
Man... how amazing would it be if someone opened up a classic celica workshop.
its such a niche. they would make a freaking killing. i'd go interstate for my car to be completely professionally restored by someone who has access to all the important bits

it'd almost be worth it to find some people interested in starting up a new one... they'd make a killing.
Another Mitch with an early Celica...excellent.
I have read in a few places that early Honda Prelude seats fit without too many four letter words, so that might be another option to consider.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Dana has Honda CRX seats in her '22... appears to be a fairly straight forward affair, had a quick look at the mounting the other day, the front holes line up as you'd hope (possible they required modification, but nothing evident), the rear holes needed a small lenght of flat bar to 'join' the celica mounting holes, and the crx mounting holes...
as far as how they go, dana loves them 'cause they give her plenty of support, and a nice high seat position, i don't really like them 'cause i'm cramped up at the best of times...
so IMO, not a wise option if your long in the leg

Haha, i was getting all excited till you said nice high position
I'm 6"1 or 6"2. The standard seats are nearly perfect for me... I'm thinking about using my spare scrap seats and fixing them up mechanically then getting them rehupolstered.
I'm not really happy though... the "unseen" damage on the passanger seat is a gaping hole in the seam of the headrest and the completely unmentioned damaged on the drivers seat is a foot long three in wide tear which has been stuffed with all manner of shit.
in hind sight probably should have turned them downdrove the 70km round trip for no reason at all

getting spares for old cars. gotta hate it.
im asking for pics before i i go for a drive anywhere ever again.
(dont mind me, crappy mood. just glot blood tests etc)
Well, I can help you here, being 6ft tall myself. No other seat will sit you as low in your RA23/8 as your stock seat does. The Prelude seats I have seen in an TA23 (shorter owner) had my head well into the roof lining. And if you do any motorsport and need to wear a helmet, no chance.

I had one of those autotechnica Monza seats in my 23, and with a helmet on I was squishing into the roof pretty bad. But they are pretty tall and generally made for bogan-doors.

Doing the things that aren't popular... cause being popular and being good are often distinctly different.
if you want a similar look to the original have a look at some mazda mx5 or the latest MR2. Both quite nice and available from importers.
