1uz-fe cam belt

Hi all!
Now that i am a proud owner of a UZS131 i have a question about the cam belt.
Mine has done 108,000 ks and has nt had the belt changed. I am planning to lift the body off next year and refit it with my rod body and would rather leave it till then. Does it matter? If the belt broke would the valves hit the pistons?

Would love some info on it.

it will be ok as most of the belts on toyotas have had the interval increased to 150000kms because they last longer than 100000 im 90 percent sure the valves wont hit the pistons

if no one knows 100 percent whether they are interferance motors or not i can find out for sure tomorrow

std non vvti 1uz is non interference 100% sure

I'd definately recommend changing the idlers and seals, and to not change the belt at the same time, especially with the engine accessible, would be somewhat silly. Let me know if you get quoted stupid prices on the parts.

As the engine is non-interference, the only potential issue is if the belt breaks you'll be stranded. If you're willing to take that risk then it's no big deal.

I'd reccomend pulling the plastic front cover off and having a look at the belt. If it looks to be in good condition, it should be fine for a little while longer.

Dont forget the reccomended service interval is quite conservative as most people dont like having the car die on them while going somewhere.
