    Default Bad Rep Disputes

i think that whilst the moderators are implementing their ideas best they can, the biggest flaw in the REP system is getting a negative repping unfairly and whilst generally they are probably valid (i myself have recieved a valid one) there are some that are recieved for stupid reasons.

and i think that there should be a place to put forth your case that a bad rep can be reversed if someone is simply giving you bad rep for a stupid reason.

perhaps people can reply to this thread by listing their unjust loss of rep points to hopefully get the attention of a moderator who can put a system in place where people can have some sort of say against unfair neg repping.

that being said, here is my unfair neg rep!

put a post in the 'non car discussion' forum.
the post was in regards to gmail. i had noticed that people still could not sign up to it and still had to be invited. and since i have 100 invites, i offered them to people through this post.

figure i dont mind going out of my way for people who are still after an account...

anyways... noticed my reps went down, checked my user cp and someone gave me a negative rep and wrote this:

ur an idiot for posted for people to want GAYMAIL!!!

now really... do i deserve this negative rep. just cos somone doesn't like my topic???

I don't think the mods have time to go over every neg rep problem that arises, they have lives outside the forum and probably do not wish to waste time listening to every persons whingeing and whining.

Some people obviously abuse the system but chances are most of them are on reps below 10 and don't have any power to remove points anyway.

Obviously the case you point out above was unjust but at the end of the day it's one point on an internet forum so who really gives a phuck

Instead of taking up threads with it, if you want it looked at that badly maybe you could just PM a mod?
Edit: I wasn't trying to sound unkind, just I don't think mods would appreciate having lots of threads about disputing negative rep. Plus they'll notice a PM straight away.

Yeah I think no matter what rep level you have you should be able to see who leaves pos/neg rep, that way the soft cocks who are handing out the neg rep for no reason will have one taken off themselves when you see who took yours away.

If that doesnt get implemented, then just deal with it..Unless you are getting ganged up on and loosing like 10 points in a single day then thats life...

    Good luck

Lol I love the fact they actually have a rank for someone with a Neg reg of -250 ie the user is a labrador selling fool (or something like that). If someone gets a neg rep that low you think they'd be banned well and truly.

i agree that this is just a forum and who cares about points... i don't either...however

i would like to be able to post in the classifieds sometime this year, it's something i did on a regular basis in the old forums and just cos i don't know the ins and outs of an engine or how to write a tech report about one is why i can't get points up that quickly...

and having to fork out $50 isn't all that worth it, when all i'm gonna do is use this site, i'm never going to goto a toymods function cos they are all held in NSW... maybe $20 for the moderators but not $50... and don't say i'm being cheap there are like a thousand registered users on this site... and there was like 13 thousand on the previous site.

if the moderators feel their site was being overrun with shitty posts (for which i agree it was)

then send out warnings to those members and ban them from posting in that section
that shouldn't be that hard to do

but this points system is a load of crap... it's like we all get punished for what a few have done wrong.

No it's like having to earn the privillege to get full access to the forums provided to you by the Toymods Car Club. Basically what all of the "I don't like rep" "I think rep is gay" threads are about is people who USE, and I mean that in the least pleasant way, the Toymods forum as a free classifieds service. I'm sorry that we are not giving away a service like that to any old person who comes along and chooses to abuse it. We do however have absolutely no qualms about members who contribute to the forum to advertise things they want to sell.

The Toymods forum is here not as a free classifieds, but as a forum for a car club. This is to have a community of Toyota enthusiast as well as a way to organise and publicise our club.

This is exactly the reason why people don't get to see the names of who leaves feedback from the start. We don't want the rep to turn into a tit for tat argument.

easy to say that from the other side of the fence... you are an admin, you make the rules. and whilst it's all fair and good that you can do what ever you like within your own site, you are clearly alienating alot of members... eg. only 1,000 odd on this site, when there was over 13,000 on the previous one. are you saying that there were over 12,000 people who USE?

look, i'm not wanting to start a full on arguement... all i wanted was to be able to post in the parts wanted section... and look at all this crap one has to go through.

it's becoming not worth it to frequent this site... and whilst you might be thinking you're getting rid of another person who USE's this site, eventually people will go else where as the best thing about this site, is that there are so many people on here, that someone has to be able to help you out....

i first joined this site thinking it was here to help noob's get into cars and learn how to do things and in learning how to do things, then buy the parts required off others on the site...

it appeared as though the moderators on here cared about helping people out with a hobby that everyone enjoys... but the way you talk, all your interested in is your own little car club to meet up with the guys every month.

this is all i will say on the subject.

you couldn't be further from the intentions of the club.... so this is toyota 101???

before the forum got "famous" it was a bunch of ppl who were part of the club, talkign shit and helping each other out to finish their projects and to learn more about their cars...

then it got big and more anonymous and many ppl just joined to flog off parts (with a few cases of ppl being badly ripped off). ie free and anonymous advertising service.... no more....

just to remind you, this is not a noob forum. this is a TECHNICAL forum, to discuss technical things.. BUT it is noob friendly as there is a large range of experience here, so that generally, those with more experience help those with less and it passes down from person to person (ie noobs get experience and then help out other noobs).
but, this is not a noob site to teach ppl how to do stuff and then sell them parts...

how did you come to that conclusion anyway?

I will say on a trial basis let the selling parts forum, have some rep in it . Sorta like ebay system. That will help some people.

    ans: he's a noob

seriously, how many more whiny posts about losing the odd bit of rep need to be started ?? get up, get over, get on with it. ignore the infidels with their shitty neg rep reasons, be a better board member and put the days of small piddly rep behind you.

i mean, does losing a rep point stop you from accessing the forums and learning something? does it hide the fountain of knowledge that resides here from you? fuck no, so just get over it already...

is it that hard to deal with?
