    Default 1jz exhaust gaskets

    Hi all

Sorry if this has been covered before but couldnt find anything in the search

Putting dump pipes on my 1jz, should i replace the exhaust gaskets between the turbos and the exhaust they are pretty flat? if so can anyone tell me where i can get them from or what the part number is, approximate cost?

    Cheers

I reuse mine and there fine, even when there flat metal garrett ones etc, you can buy them aftermarket from exhaust shops etc can get them in, or through toyota but there expensive, a t3 gasket kit (dump & Manifold) cost a mate 70 dollars, obviously not toyota but it gives you an idea.

they "should" be changed, as they're crushable metal gaskets. that said, I know of plenty of people who re-use them and have no issues

I just bought a new set from CH toyota for peace of mind

i have always reused the old ones with no problems,it is often useful to do something to stop the bolts from loosening though ie locking tabs

flanges bolting to ct12a turbos on the 1js came loose on me once,i used locking tabs fabbed from thin mild steel plate

yeah i checked them closer today, but cause i tried so hard to get them in the first time i dont think ill use em again cause one of them has crumpled so its not completely flat anymore, i dont think it will seal.
