    Default Air Con not actuating

Hi all, I've got a somewhat delicate problem with the switch for my air con.

Car: AE93 SX Corolla, factory air con

Basically the air con is not switching on when I press the button. I thought it may have been an issue with the resistor pack for the fan speed control but that's been fixed. The only thing I can think of may have been amiss was that once before I dismantled the fan speed control switch but it showed no damage and it went back together no trouble. Also the fan now works on all speeds. It's also worth noting that the wiring for AC switch runs through the fan speed control switch.

Does someone have the pinouts of that plug? I did record them when I took the plug apart so I doubt I may have got it wrong, is there something I'm forgetting???
Please note that I've already ruled out the AC being faulty, I assume the problem is fuse related (can't find AC fuse?) or cabin wiring related. Also there's an AC amplifier under the dash but I'm not sure of it's function.

Bottom line, everyting works except air con. The lights, fan etc. all work.
    Thanks in advance.

Hey there mate, run the car and turn the switch on and check if theres power at the comprssor, if theres power there, then there may be something wrong with the compressor.

if theres no power there then check fuse's and if theres power coming out of the switch.

    hope this helps

Another reason why the ac might not be working is cause you have no gas in the system.

there is a pressure switch in teh system which measures teh pressure, if the gas has escaped through a leak somewhere then the compressor will not engage cause there is no gas.

Would be good to check power at the compressor too.

mate grab yourself some wire to short the aircon fuse in the box. when i had a busted aircon relay i just shorted it using a peice of wire (use a tester first to find out which is the 12v). worked for me as no wrecker had a spare relay

As far as I know the fan wiring's relation to the AC switch should only be so that the AC will not switch on without the fan being on. So the resistor pack for the fans shouldn't intefere with the AC at all, as long as the fan is switching on. If it's out of gas the LED on the switch should come on momentarily before switching back off, I believe (although, you say you rule out a faulty AC so this shouldn't be the issue).

In the engine bay of ae9x's on the passenger side there is two fuse boxes, one has the engine fuses and there's another smaller black box in front of that with relay's and fuses for the AC, it is the one closest to the headlight.

Aren't the plugs for the AC switch a one way only type thing? ie; they can only plug in the correct way

    Mine is weird too.
    1: Fan off: OK
    2: Fan on: OK
3: Fan On + A/c switch on: OK
4:Then try to switch A/c off: Not OK.
5: I have to actually switch my fans off to get my A/C to disengage.
Then When I turn my fans back on, the A/C is off and I am back at #2
