Sure. Just don't expect it to last too long if you actually start the engine!

Ceramic coating is the way to go in this instance.

You could always buy some of the stuff in a can with the space shuttle

brake caliper paint might be the go.

    dunno how long it'll last...

i know the temp stuff actually seals and sets better the hotter the surface gets, but turbos get to insane temps..

On a similar note what sort of temp grade paint should be used on headers/extractors? I hate the ugly browny colour and wouldn't mind spraying them black

Use that engine spray you can buy from repco or something. The stuff they spray reconditioned V8s and V6s with.

The turbine wheels on Turbochargers fitted to petroleum Engines are designed to withstand 1000 degrees Celsius, so it's safe to say the Turbine Housing and exhaust dump-pipe will see close to that on a non-factory tuned Engine.

This therefore rules out the possibility of using VHTs' 1500 degree Fahrenheit 'Spray can' silica paint.....

On the upside, you can still have it done here in Australia and you get the benefit of it being a thermal coating rather then just a cosmetic thing.

I don't think the housing will get as hot as the turbine wheel.

Engine enamel wouldn't stand a chance on extractors, let alone a turbocharger.

You might be able to get away with VHT, you need a spotlessly clean surface and several light coats. It's even better if you get the metal hot before you spray the final coats - If you don't have an oxy, getting it hot on the car works. I'll leave the masking up to you to work out, I'd suggest alfoil might be the go.

That's because the Turbine Housing has 50+ times greater Area to dissipate the Heat, but under WOT conditions (around a Track or street), the Turbine Housing can/will reach the same temperature after some time.
