    Default Bigport 4age loom

    Hi,

I need a loom for my red top bigport 4age (from an ae82) which is going in my ADM ae86. Am I able to use a loom from a blue top as there's one at a wreckers near me.

I actually already have a loom and computer, just that the loom was chopped at the firewall and I cant really be bothered wiring it all up to the ECU plugs if I can just go out and get a cheap uncut one.

As long as the various loom plugs are the right ones for your TPS injectors etc yes.

thanks parrot, It should be all okay because if there's a different plug I can just cut one off my other loom and use it.

But you will need to make the loom longer anyway or you will have to mount the computer in the engine bay (not recomended).
But if thats the way you want to go then you should know that blue top and red top 86KW looms have different plugs for injectors and sensors.
So try to stay with the same type to save changing a lot of plugs.

If it was me I would use the loom you have and just conect it up at the length you need to mount the computer in the factory spot.

    Just my 2 cent's (or 2.2 cent's with GST)

I concur with Reasonably paced Foo.

I've done 2 engine swaps, one I stripped the loom, lengthened/shortened/added wires, connected everything then made it pretty. The other I just kept the factory loom and ran connections where needed.

Doing it properly (first option) is much neater and I have a much better understanding of how it all works too. It's worth the effort.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
