Well, she's up and running with a Weber now. I managed to find another incomplete DGV cheap, so I cleaned that one up and swapped all the bits over.

It has noticeably more grunt now. No 18RG eater, but more fun than it was!

    Next step, extractors!

    Thanks for the help guys.

One last question, that someone with a DGV should be able to check easily.

Do the discharge slots in the Aux Venturis point downwards, upwards or sideways? Mine are sideways, which does not look right!

They should be on the bottom. I think they have a brass sleeve that slides inside the alloy part. Maybe the brass sleeve is loose and has turned a bit.

Thanks, that's what I suspected may have happened. I will remove them, align them correctly and hold them in place with a dab of loctite. I've got a flat spot at part-throttle, just above idle, and I suspect this may be the cause.

    Cheers,
you should also advance the timing until it pings then knock it back a touch until it does not
that fixed my flat spot issue

Yeah, I got the ignition up to scratch and did the timing by that method before I changed the carby. I didn't want to blame the carby for any iginition issues.
