My long gone AE82, had the map sensor mounted to the strut tower brace. Right about where you mentioned.

I'm pretty sure my 4age is missing it's map sensor. Won't rev past 4k unless you floor it for 10 seconds, very sluggish to rev and running rich at idle. The only picture I had to go by was a RWD 4age pic on bill sherwoods page which shows a 3 port vacuum plug on the inlet manifold with one connection to a rubber hose to the map on the firewall. The same port on my FWD connects to a metal tube which goes across the manifold to the driver side of the car, kicks up to point toward the firewall and ends without a hose! There is also a 3 wire yellow plug dangling close by so i'm 99% sure this was where it was. Just can't see a mounting point anywhere? Are there any toyota's that use the same sensor I could get one from? Also wouldn't mind knowing where it's meant to go? Thanks!
