    Hi mate,
Sorry for the slow reply, I'm on here only rarely these days. Once the head was off it turns out my pistons were just turned down 3T items. I think there are some pics of them in my rides thread. (link is in my sig) I can't see imageshack stuff on my work computer so i can't confirm tho. If they aren't there I'll post pics when i get home.

My engine has recently developed a bad vibration and lost some power so i shall be pulling it out and opening her up to see what i broke as soon as i clean up the garage a little. I'm hoping I'm not up for new pistons as they will probably have to be custom. But that will be a good excuse to take her out to 88.5mm or maybe 89mm if i have the meat in the block.

262 combustion chamber never can be as good as older true hemi heads had.

In high compression use with custom pistons, there choise to use really slow burning, or big squish.
With low turbo compression and small dome or flat top the combustion chamber is worki g like older ones.

Use a 262 head in built high comp N/A engine. I never recommend to do that. Use available pistons to other heads with older head or go with turbo.

I dont see idea to use that head in any other application than near stock and turbo.

It seems that I've bought a 262 headed engine which was just for a spare. I feel a little dirty Only because it seems hard to get off the shelf pistons for it but at least it came complete with carbs etc.

So its 100% confirmed the heads with oval shaped timing chain cover, Yamaha branded with no numbers on the front is the 262 "off centre chambered and off centre piston"?

Rod if you check out my thread it seems that I may also have bought your old 222 head which I bought not knowing it was missing the buckets Also missing 2 valves now. In my thread above and this old Toymods thread referring to it, if it is the same one. http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.p...t=0#msg_135727

Ok so I took off the rocker cover and had a look at the cams in the 2TG Yamaha head I have with no number markings. Without actually pulling the head off it does seem to be a 262 head

It also has the 262 marked cams.

As hks7mgt mentioned on page 2 it also has no webbing between the head bolt holes and also has a gap under the center chain guide when compared to my other 260 head.

262 Head - No webbing at head bolt holes

    260 Head - Webbing visible

I've always wanted to rebuild one of these engines to learn a bit more about them, looks like the 262 one will be a good one to use.

Sorry my friend but you are wrong, that new hemi combustion chamber is still a hemi but quenched, as is the old toyota 88262.

Here is how a Polispherical combustion chamber looks like almost like a big block chevy or cleveland ford

this one is out of a poly 318 engine from Dodge!
