    40m from 110kmh, thats some serious g's.
    About 1.17 gs from my calcs. That would be amazingly impressive.

    Most car do about 39-44m from 100k in ABS.
    So 40m from 110 without EBD and ABS, big claim

    But insane if its possibly.
    Why wouldnt you go down this upgrade path

    I'll be sure to do some tests once I'm positive all the brake fluid has been burnt out of the front rotors.

    And good point Stefan.
    I have RDA slotted fronts with Greenstuff pads, and factory Z32 rear discs with I *think* factory pads.

    I still havent bought rotors.. Recon two peice rotors would be good ? less weight is a bonus. Me too busy to build car at the moment but its so close!!

    Depends if you can justify the extra cost.

    ask your engineer if he has the little machine to test the braking performance.

    just out of comparison here is how 270x20 + hilux 4 piston performed;

    speed= 88.5km/h
    stopping distance= 40.1M
    deceleration average= 0.77G
    deceleration max = 0.96G
    MFDD = 8.61m/s^2
    time = 3.26secs
    pedal effort = 342.4 N

    i have a feeling more than 1.17G's would be required.

    i think the limiting factor would be the tyre compound and pressure

    @110km/h, to get a 40m stopping distance.... 1.189602G's required (assuming constant acceleration)

    or acceleration of 11.6711ms^-2

    do-able i say!

    Correct.

    Without EBD and ABS, its a hard task.
    Unless there is some serious rubber, ie 255 front, 295 rears, getting 1.2g decel.... doesnt happen in too many cars

    EBD perhaps, but in an all out brake setup, ABS usually brakes slower than a proper brake application.

    Old ABS systems yes, new generation are actually quite good, depending on tuning

    Indeed, depending on tuning, but I can't see them surpassing a perfect brake application, they're all about correcting a wrong brake application. They're getting faster, but still.

    Thats assuming you have the perfect driver behind the wheel, old abs systems will modulate braking forces 8 times per second current ones are up to about 32 times per second, I ain't seeing no human foot doing that.

    At my advanced driver training day there was a couple VS commodores some with and some without abs, for average Joe ABS is a very good thing .
    If in doubt power out

    abs is aimed more at allowing the driver to mash the pedal as fast and as hard as they want and still be able to have some steering.

    in an emergency, the average joe will just slam the brakes as hard as possible.

    sometimes i drive along a quiet street and slam on the brakes. basically try to take them right to the limit of locking up......more times you do it, more chance you have of controlling your vehicle when the real thing happens

    Hehe, my car can't lock up its tyres on a normal stop, the pads need a couple of goes before they heat up

    They probably will lock up if you totally smash the pedal But thats not very normal.
