Ok, so the project has been a very long hard expensive road. But finally hopefully for a long time I won't have to touch this engine however I doubt it. So after it's terrible break down and removal out of my car I started the task of pulling it apart and replacing damaged goods.
While this process was ticking over I borrowed a 13T and had that in to get around. Problem was it was clapped and couldn't go over 4 grand, at least i never got a speeding fine ha ha.
As explained in more detail in my other post pistons 1 and 3 shat themselves and after it sat for a while the block and crank needed to be touched up too. During the process I got a little excited and went a little further then the original plans. I decided to buy some high tensile valve springs. After a tension test we found the purchased items were infact only the outer spring for a dual spring system. Deciding I already had half why not finish the set. So I had dual valve springs and matching seats installed.
Focusing back on my original project I had the block honed and new pistons, rings and bearings purchased and had to shave the head due to a portion of piston 1 being pressed into it. However I was still excited and went a little further. I found a pair of 222 cams and had them installed over my previous 220's. After the head work was complete it was packaged nicely and come home. I completed my part hoard by getting my hands on the last set of extractors to be produced by pacemaker for the 2TG finished with a beautiful blue heat proof paint. Then due to financial issues the process halted as alot of projects do. Luckily this one was eventually continued and after obtaining a few more necessary items the build began. I completed the build and put in half in today. I left a few gaskets at the workshop and need to pick them up tomorrow but I'm looking forward to the fun I'm going to have when this 2 and 1/2 year stage of my project is complete. As a word of advice to any wanting to do a project on ANY car. Do not try and do up your daily driver this is why the process has taken me two and a half years!!!! Well pics will follow when it's complete.
