So after laying it all out, cleaning all the parts, then spraying it all with compressed air and a bit of WD40 (on moving or bare metal parts) I started the assembly.
Crank and bearings first ...I had hit my first problem. We needed the crank bearings with the attatched thrust washers so after a little delay I continued
. With crank firmly bolted in and the dummy shaft inserted I placed on my timing sprockets for the bottom end and also inserted the oil pump.
I was off to a flying good start and quite proud of myself as this was the first engine build I had ever done. After fitting the oil filter and fuel pump as well as the backing plate i decided to call it a night and started again in the morning.

. So having completed painting the basics I moved on to getting everything I had spread out in order and so I could find everything when I needed it
. Oh my carbies, donar Engines and lightened flywheel I found all at SLeeka spares and Dave has been a huge help through this process.

I added the finishing touches and threw on the cam cover. . . I then needed a change of pants as I was so exciting to be so nearly done I wet my pants.

I had evily driven it without coolant every third day. It had a very serious overheating problem forcing all my coolant out of the system as steam. As well as lack of oil due to a leak all adding up to a blown head gasket, no compression and a busted motor (secretly that was the plan i wanted to test just how toyota tough 2T's are. Long story short, it passed. . . well short example: pooraka to salisbury plains round bout 16KM without fluid or oil) in the end this is what it looked like
