    Default Re-grinds? for 18RG

    Hey guys,

Just wondering am i better off to get some of the early cams (88230,88210) or get a pair i have re-ground? Im not sure what would be better Its a 88253 head thats been bench flowed to flow up to 200hp (i know i wont get that much power) with 45mm Webers and other work so i dont want the cams to be holding me back cause i only have a set of 88250 and 88253. If re-grinds are the way to go is it as easy as telling the place what lift and duration i want? What would this cost me. Any help would be great thanks guys...

    Cheers, Craig...

I used i guy up here Clive Cams

he's cheap! only cost me $88 and 3 days, he knows what he's talking about, he used to work for Wade cams for like 20 years or something,

I just pulled up gave him some suggestions about what lift/duration i wanted and he worked around my needs for the car, and the end result was just a mild cam for a daily driven car but he will do any grind you want him to do.

I would just get it reground.

No generally you don't tell the cam grinder what lift and duration you want unless you are trying to copy a set of existing cams. The cam grinder will usually want to know what you are chasing - he/she will want to know things like; desired rpm range, comp ratio, bore and stroke, vehicle use (track car, rally car or street car) etc. and lastly what HP.

Seeing that the 18RG is not new the cam grinder prolly has a couple of grinds that they know work well.
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
