Put everything together and made sure timing of Harmonic Balancer + Cam was at top dead centre (0) and made sure the Rotor Button was just before the 1st spark plug ..

After 5 - 10 mins of cranking it didnt even "cough" or "splutter" , just crank crank crank ... as if its not firing what so ever

I took out spark lead 1 and placed one of the old spark plugs in and put the plug to the head and got mum to crank it, it sparked fine.
    So there is a spark.

I then took all the new spark plugs out and replaced with the old (in case the new plugs were not correct/ gapped right) and found fuel on the plugs that i removed . so there is fuel going to the combustion chamber.

Where could the issue be ?

Ive sms'ed 5 people today 3 out of 5 said timing ... how can the timing be out when :

a: The engine is at top dead centre
    and
b: the rotor button be positioned correctly just before spark lead 1

    ?

So there's fuel and spark, the timing might have still slipped a tooth or two after you started cranking it? But even if it was a tooth or two out it should still fire

Put a timing light on it and see that the timing is right when you crank it over, then you can rule it out all together

Did you ever run it before you changed the HG and waterpump?

Maybe it's 180 degrees out mate???

I've done that very thing before.

    Just a thought.

    Dale:

Yeah mate, it worked when we found out about BHG and it also ran before i re-torqued the head again last weeked.

Stradler: ive spoken to Adsport and Matt (Wildsupra) they both believe the dizzy/cam timing is out

im 110% sure the Harmonic Balancer and Cam Cog are both at top dead centre and 1st Piston is at top of engine.

The problem is the dizzy .and the positioning of it and the rotor button .

I need to know if the rotor button spins Clockwise or Anticlockwise to i can setup the button to point just before the first spark lead.

    -

I plan to rip the timing to shreds again tomorrow arvo and re do it all again to be 1000% sure that the timing of cam/crank is perfect and the dizzy is also perfect.

    EDIT:
As the tip of the spark plug is wet with fuel i would assume now that either

a: the engine is FLOOOOODED with fuel and cannot spark
    or
b: the timing is 180 Degrees off and its sparking when the exhaust side is open

    Hi,

Pull the cap of the dizzy and crank the engine and see which way the rotor spins.

To check your spark timing - to see if it's way out of whack - pull the spark plug out of cyl 1, and crank the engine. Shine a torch down into the cylinder (assuming you can see the piston when it comes TDC) and see if the piston is at the top when the plug sparks.

    Good idea river.

But judging with a screwdriver, the piston is all the way at the top.

Just got off the phone to adsport.

He believes that my Rotor button on my Dizzy spins anti clockwise ...
Therefore ive been setting up the dizzy to fire on #2 insted of #1 this whole time.

will correct this when i get home tonite.

Dont worry matt, its been contemplated .

i have the option of a
    1GGZE (missing supercharger) from wildsupra
    1GGTE (Hamgatan's over heating one)
or i could just buy a corona ST141 for a few hundred and use the motor from that.

As River said, to be 400% sure which way the rotor spins, take the cap off and crank. Also, doesnt hurt to turn the dizzy around 180 and check for that, often the cam will be at 12 oclock on the exhaust stroke for no. 1... 18RGs are like that and I came unstuck with a 202 that was like that too.
