Default 2tg hybrid - weber 40 or 45's and settings

hey i have been building another hybrid and just deciding whether to go weber dcoe 40's or 45's. capacity is about 1840cc and the build will be street car with track use. hopefully 160hp at the fly if everything goes to plan.

i had dcoe 45's on the last hybrid but it was closer to 1940cc or so
and made power until about 7000. it had 34 chokes it it which is the smallest recommeneded size. i will have to check jets etc sometime too.

so im seeing what people recommend with carb size and settings -
chokes, jets, tubes etc for a 2tg hybrid. no solex talk! lol

depends on the flow of your head? i reckon 40's will be more resonsive cause they are small down low, but 45 at WOT ftw. Throw some specs up for others to get the whole picture.
no solex talk wtf? i think this one has been covers before.

The 2tg intake port only measures between 32-33 mm in diameter at the manifold flange. I cant see much benifit using a bigger carby then a 40 unless the heads have been hogged out over 40mm. 18rg's are only a 36-37 mm diameter a the manifold flange.
Just food for thought, help you decide which carby to use thats all

    Yeah, 45's are too big.
45's may give a little more power up top, but everywhere else itll drive like crap or be very hard to tune.

As for jet sizes, etc... very very hard to guess those.
Best to leave that bit up to an experienced carb tuner that has a dyno.

    Hi,

Yep, I agree with the above 2 posts. The 2T-G works well with 40mm, and even the 18R-G work well with 40mm carbs. So, I don't think 45s are going to make much diff, unless you're intending to bore/stroke the 2T-G to 2litr and putting in some angry cams.

how about a set of DCOE 42mm Weber carbs? meet the specs in the middle? I know this isn't a Toyota, but I had these working like wild horses on my Scorpion, but I wanted my car to be a torque-monster.... 2.6L 4G54 engine was admittedly too big for the carbs (2.0L 4G52 would have been ideal), but the manifold was port-matched to the head and the overhead cam was ground down for torque. went like a rocket off the mark. that's really all I can offer here, just that I noticed 42mm Webers hadn't been raised so far. for the capacity, if you have only 40 or 45mm to go with, go the 40's and have the jets worked & tuned by a shop that knows what they're doing with them. good luck.
