i think the best would be... a 20V ecu no?
why not use the ECU that suits the motor?
and the name you were looking for is Delco
Hi Guys,
Just in 2 minds on what to run on my 20V Blacktop when i get it in the AE71
I'v been told you can run a GZE MAP sensored ECU, but i would have thought there would be some problems with not running any boost?
And i have also been told that you can just get a VN Commo ECU and re map it
i was thinking Autronic but know i'm been told that an Adaptronic will do the lot for almost half the price?
can i get away with running a biggyback like an Emanage?
I have no clue when it comes to ECU's so any help would be appreciated

Use the one for the engine unless you're planning to play with the engine somewhat and get some more serious power from it. If you're looking for an aftermarket unit, buy the best you can afford, rather than the cheapest.
I'm yet to see any aftermarket units that get a heap more power than the Blacktop ECU on an otherwise stock motor.
Mine just spun up 89rwkw with a free flowing exhaust and a non-tuned trumpets/socks intake setup.
im using microtech on mine. fairly straight forward to install, payed $1480 delivered. i dont think it cost to much but then i dont have any other buying experience with ECUs.

I think you have to run an after market ECU when do away with the Dizzy?
And my budget is pretty slim when it comes to the ECU so I'm just trying to find best value for money ECU,
I don't really want to go to Microtech as with them you get what you pay for and$1500 don't get much with Microtech
better off running factory or something with all the features of a factory one.
mod the firewall to fit the dizzy ie a removable box behind it. i havn't had an engineer knock one back yet.
aren't black tops multicoil![]()
megasquirt..
i know someone that has run two ECUs on a silvertop, if u're really interested i'll PM me.. in a nutshell, he's got one ECU for fuel and one for ignition.. and it runs really well..

No, Blacktops are single coil with dizzy providing spark distribution.Originally Posted by The Real Roadrunner

If budget is a concern then megasquirt and adaptronic are the best, in my opinion.
In your specific case, I'd go the adaptronic as there is a blacktop 20V tuned map available for free on their site that could save you hundreds in dyno tuning fees.
Kaizen Garage have done a lot of RWD 20V's with adaptronics and the new type toyota coil on plug setup. The seem to run really well.
thats whacky! why didn't they run the Extra code?Originally Posted by Vios-GT_07

toby from meridian motorsport can get ignition controller for 20v that will allow you to run stock management with multiple igniters/coils and do away with the dizz. im getting a slightly modded one for my 3sge, cost was aroung $350 for the unit.

Either do this, or move the dizzy cap to the front of the engine.Originally Posted by mikie

buy/make an adapter kit to run it off the exhaust cam. Not the nicest solution.
