Toyota said $120 each incl GST.I thought they would be more than that.
I sugested Bosch coil packs and he said there a heap of garbage compared to the Denso ones.
And they just slot strait in.
They dont come with the blue rubber boot.
shit that isn't bad, let me know if he comes thru with the goods at that price
i'm after a set aswell.

Great news for you. I think my problem goes a bit deeper than that. I paid $140 for a coil from Toyota, with the boot. Retail was a bit over $160. I will try my car without the O2 sensor anyway, it always runs rich too. Keep us informed on the progress.
Brad.
Remember when changing coils to clean the spark plugs before trying it out. I just give the plugs a squirt of carby cleaner.
I have had the problem before (not a 1JZ) where the coils were frigged, when I replaced them the problem remained UNTIL I changed the plugs. I reason that the plugs were fouled from insufficient spark and a nice rich mixture of Optimax.
YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
YelloRolla - Thanks for that. I put new plugs in at the same time.
But I have found the (well, a problem.) The injectors are leaking, They don't hold pressure and the engine is struggling to idle due to the amount of fuel getting pumped into it. Now I need to take them out to test them but I'm not convinced that is the only problem.
I found a couple of leaky capacitors in the ECU that I will change out when I can get the right value. All of the loom checks out OK so far.
ALL my coils have cracks in them too. For now I have just taped them up with insulation tape till new ones get here. There was one that had a jumping spark but I replaced it with a brand new one. The others weren't jumping but I taped them anyway.
No problem as I won't be driving it at all and it's been like this since Christmas. I'm getting withdrawals...
Cheers Brad.
I drove the car home today(30km)from work and it was running beautiful.
AFR guage is working good now.
I have a gut feeling still that it hasnt fixed the problem after trying so many things
Il see how it goes tomorrow.
Would u think a o2 sensor would do this?

Just see how it goes I guess. Mine isn't driveable at all now.... Working on another car to use as a daily driver now, so the Cressida get the back seat for a few days.
Cheers Brad.
It played up again this morning.
Pulled out the ECU and gave it to the wiring guy to sus out.
3 caps were leaking and 1 of them was coroded from the fluid in it.
Getting it repaired for $20 of him.
Im 80% sure thats my problem.
Il see how i go.

Awesome news. I had two leaking ones but I could only get four of the five in there, I'm replacing them allAfter I change them all, I will report back.
Cheers Brad.
Fancy that! the chances of you both having a ECU's with leaky caps. And i always thought the ECU was the last thing to go wrong!
02 sensor dont worry about it
i and joey didnt run o2 sensors on ours once we got twin pipes made up. the cars used a little more fuel than before but no that much that you really noticed it.
Well it seems my car is stuffed. I got another ECU to try and it made no difference. Got a set of injectors (Whole rail and FPR) last night to try. Working out the best way to do it today.
keep us updated, i'm curious to know how it goes after trying another set of injectors/fuel rail and pressure regualtor.

Well, the injectors all read 14ohm, they all click when supplied 12V. The seals are all buggeredOff to get seals.
How do I get to the rear 3 injectors without taking the manifold off? It looks like a pleasant job![]()
Cheers Brad.
