Basic dimensions are 70x35mm, they look really small, smaller than single piston rears (MA70 ect), but they work well so dont question it.

Ops, forgot to get piston size - dont want to get my hands dirty again, will do it later if no one else does.

The nonGTR pad is a bit smaller.

is that taking into account that the skyline runs 2 pistons?
i havnt measured myself just a query.

2 piston fixed is the same as one piston sliding.

So MA61 piston has 27% more surface area than the Z32.

but you have double the surface area for the fluid to push against.
therefore it should be 2268mm2 and thats why they have more braking force/ability.

Cheers for the help again guys!
CrUZida : I need to spread the love before giving it to you again...

Well the wilwood calipers i have , have a pad dimention of 47 x 41mm ........ So they are pretty small pads but the caliper is billet and has 44mm pistons in it.
So im wondering if the piston size will provide better stopping performance even though the pad itself is smaller ?

Anyone have any theorys behind clamping pressure/ piston size vs pad surface area ?
IE which caliper do you think would be better ? The R32 with its larger pad surface area of the wilwood caliper with a smaller pad area but larger pistons / clamping force ???

Here is a link to the caliper and its measurements.

Is this the measurements for the pad area or the backing plate area ??

With the single piston, as the piston moves in one direction, the caliper moves in the opposite direction, so you are still getting the same amount of surface area for the fluid to push on.

The main benefits are less weight, less flex, and more even application of pressure.

Measurements are for the outside of the backing plate IIRC.

So, rather than start a new thread i thought i'd resurrect this old one.

Does anyone have the original pics that no longer display in this thread? I need the distance from the center of the caliper (between the pads) to the mounting face, so i can work out the offset for my caliper adapter. The issue i have is i don't have the calipers near me at the moment to take this measurement.

    Thanks,
    Dave
