Hey all
A new supra owner, and I've bought myself a GA70 1988 twin turbo, auto.
The car is pretty much stock except for a 3" exhaust.
Now, the car currently has blown turbos (Removed by previous owner) and I'm trying to find out, if it's a gen 1 2 or 3 1G-GTE.
Now I've found the plug colour ID factor in the FAQ, but, I can't seem to find the ECU to ID it's plug colour.
So:
1) Where do I find my ECU,
2) What gen 1G-GTE should I have in my car (Seeing how the car is stock)

I ran a search through the FAQ. Didn't find much
ECU colour is yellow, which suggests either a Gen 2 or 3.
Was the Gen 2 and 3 ran in the one car?
yep around 88 model has gen 2 like me gen 3 is 90ish.
Previous Rides: JZA80, GA70 GT, RA63 GT x2, TA61 GT, TA63.
injectors fluro green wth alternating brown and grey plugs is gen 3
further more gen 3 ecu grey
Not always there were yellow plug ecu gen 3 in 1988. Mein is one in a soarer. Check the number of pins on the ecu plug. Just count the wires or holes, if the biggest plug has 26 wires and not 24 its a hybrid between gen2 and gen 3. If you interested in turbos i have a pair in excelent condition that came of mein. PM me.
By the sounds of it you have the same engine as mien. Built in late 88
Alrighty, so I ripped that there glove box out. And I finally found the ECU. What a dumb spot to put it for ease of access!
No wonder I never found it, every car I've had (Which isn't heaps) and each one I've worked on, has been in the passenger footwell!
Anyway, injectors:
Fluoro green/yellow with a greyish/greenish plug
ECU has 26pins on it with grey plugs.
So which engine do I have, a "Gen2.5"?
Which turbos will fit? Will the gen3 turbos bolt on?
Or do I need Gen2, or do I have to find the "gen2.5"?
You have a Gen 3 my friend... Hunt down a set of Gen 3 Turbos and you are loughing
Kyosho,
When searching don't limit yourself to the FAQ section. Allot of good info is litered through peoples members rides threads. This post for example.

Any set of 1G turbo's will bolt on if you get the matching intake pipework (The two pipes that bolt onto the Compressor covers) That being said the Gen 3 1G-GTE turbo's are your best choice.
So you know what to look for a strongly suggest reading this thread.
