Really REALLY quick one ladies and gentlemen...
what happens if someone who has negative rep, say -45, tries to negative rep you? does that mean your rep will go UP? ie, down a negative amount? double negative... etc etc?
cheers

Hi,
And, if later on their rep goes to a level where they can award/remove points it won't make any diff - as the points are only given/taken at the time of when they do the rep thing.

without wasting space with a new thread, what colour are neg reps?
i mean in the user control panel, most of mine are green, but some are grey. But the grey ones still say positive things?

just for curiosity sake, how do you give neutral rep? and really, is there a point? cos the other person wouldn't really gain anything from it

Hi,
The neutral post means the person giving the rep hasn't got the ability to give rep. That is, someone on less than 10pts hasn't got enough rep themselves to give (or take) rep from someone else.
So, if someone who has less than 10rep points goes to give (or take) rep from you, the rep they can give (or take) will be a big fat 0. So, you will see their name and a grey square (neutral rep) and your total rep points will remain unchanged.
Example.... if you're on 100pts and someone (called dunderclump) with a rep of (say) 5 gets upset with you, and gives you a -ve rep... you will still have 100pts and you will see that dunderclump has a grey square next to their name (when you check your rep). You won't know whether they tried to + or - rep you as the square will be grey, so you'll have to see their comment, assuming they put one in, to see if they or giving or taking rep from you.
Let's say that within 24hrs somene +repped dunderclump so they now have (say) 20 points. Your existing rep you recevied from dunderclump will still be neutral and 0. However, now that dunderclump is over 10pts any repping they give from now on will have a non-zero value... and therefore they will come up as red or green.
So, if you're on 100pts and dunderclump gives you +rep, you will now have 101pts. Let's say that dunderclump has upset some ppl and gets knocked down to less than 10pts. Your 101 pts will still remain.
I hope this clears it up a bit.

So unfortunately Oman has the power of giving too much rep to those who should have to inch their way toward fringe benefits, or to those who only need a wrist slapping to let them know they are headed in the wrong direction and put them back on course.
The issue of the amount of rep giveable has been discussed in another thread, but I still think that Toymods is at the stage where some of us need to be able to limit the amount of rep we give. I am sure the likes of River, Takai, YLD-16L, Brett_Celicacoupe, TwentyEight etc would agree.
