7A-FE head gaskets fit on 4A-GEs?
would a 4AGE head fit on a 7a short motor, has this been tried?
Got good condition 23/28 bonnet hinges? pm me
Now that post made sense. EDIT: I was trying to quote Wraith's previous post but some thing wrong with the system today and quoted this one.Originally Posted by wraith
7A-GE's have been done many times google it and you will see.
I don't know how much i would trust 20v pistons in a 16v. valve clearances maybe "close" on a mock up but think about a torqued and then retorqued gasket..... its just one of those situations where if your trying to build a solid motor a "maybe" is just not good enough.

thanks, interesting information, but I wouldnt be prepared to spend the dollars on rods.
Forged pistons are heavier than cast... If there is no NEED for a forged pistons then it isn't doing it right the first time. There IS a factory 1/2mm oversize 4AGE piston that raises compression from 9.4 to 10.0 WITHOUT having to worry about pin fitment. This piston is the Euro/Singapore 4AGE... NOT 4AGEC... the Euro/Singapore pistons are 10 to 1. The 1990+ Redtop piston is 10.3 to 1, not 10.5.
The part # for the 10 to 1 O/S piston is - 13103-16030. The proper ring set for that piston is 13013-16180

are these available through Toyota Australia or would they be something to search out on the web?
Is the compression ratio the main reason for the small port AE92 being more powerful than the big port AE82 or does the port size make a big difference?
You'd likely have to find them... you could try AEU86.org... someone there might be able to get them... also home market might be able to get them too...Originally Posted by wa5
Compression bump is usually good for a few hp... and I've heard that the small port head adds a few as well

Have you pulled the engine apart yet? The later model bigports had a 7 rib block & 42mm crank journals- just checked the one in the shed...

smallport is better as long as your target is under 200hp after that bigport is the way to go as it will flow much better.Originally Posted by oldeskewltoy
definately make sure your matching up pin sizes on your rods if your planning on new pistons other wise you might end up in a situation where your changing pistons, rods and crank. early bigports are 18mm wrist and 40mm crank, later models are 20mm wrist and 42mm crank.
