I know Aus MA61's dont have an Oxygen sensor. I don't know if there's a wire in the loom for it though, could be. Could check the TSRM and find the wire in the electrical diagrams, it'll tell you what colour it is on that.
Hi guys
i need to ask if anybody knows ..Which color wire in the original MA61 loom is the one which attaches to the oxygen sensor ??![]()
Thanks in advance for helping

Thanks for that Neg
mine didn't have an o2 sensor on it as the extractors didn't have a mount place for one, however on the original standard manifold there IS a mount so figured that she should probably have one installed. also i have only a haynes workshop manual (i think they're american ? ) it shows all models from 1979 - 1992 with o2 sensor.
Problem with this manual is that the ONLY part of the wiring diagram which does NOT show a colour, is the Friggin O2 sensor wire Grrrrrrrrrr to Haynes
the reason i decided to install one in my MA61 is that once i got the starting prob all sorted it now starts, runs but when ya rev it up she pours heaps of BLACK smoke (obviously fuel) .
Also there is a wire on the AFM plug which is white/black strip / red bands , on mine this wire has a second one attached which goes straight to earth and if i undo that wire the car starts but will not run Hmmmm thought you may know why thats there ?
thanks again for your help Neg

Oz 5ME doesn't have O2 sensor so the loom wont have a connector for it and the ECU wont do anything with it.
running rich under accel or free rev would be closed loop mode anyway (if the ECU dupported it, which the OZ 5ME doesn't) - so adding one wont lean things out.
check things that make stuff rich - TPS sensor and vacuum reference for the fuel pressue regulator.
what do those wires conenct to on the wiring diagram?
MKII (MA67) TSRM. Its for the american Supras iirc but its basically the same if you ignore the 5MGE engine and left hand drive.
I'd recommend doing what chuckster has said but this is what i did (but clockwise instead of anti-clockwise) on my old 6M (running 5M throttle and AFM) to reduce my fuel consumption. Might also help the black smoke on your car if you can't diagnose it properly. Hope you get it fixed.
Just another thought, make sure your AFM is clean too and that little bypass passage isn't blocked.

Thanks for you help guys .I'll check it out again in the morning and see how we go.
I'll definitely post the result and *fingers crossed* solution when the problem is finally solved
thanks again

Check this link out http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.p..._view=&start=0... this will help paint the picture. I did this many years ago to solve my fueling issues, it didn't work...
Can't afford it?... Don't buy/drive it...

i thought most people fixed fuel economy issues in 5ME by junking the motor?

EXCELLENT suggestion Chuckster !!!Originally Posted by thechuckster

1. save money or pimp self
2. find 1JZ and associated bits
3. install
4. ???
5. join the 1JayZee crowd and profit?
