Ok, 16v 4AGEs definitely don't run a PCV valve. The port on the plenum that connects to the cam cover actually follows a passageway on the inside of the plenum up to the throttle body, & vents about 1-2mm in front of the butterfly, so at idle/closed throttle there really should be very little vacuum sucking the crank case gases in.
With the cut & shut plenum there's no saying what has been done to this setup. Perhaps someone's stuck a drill through the port on the plenum & givin it max vac?
Easiest solution, hook up a catch can with a filter on it.
Next easiest, do the same as above but hook it back up to the inlet in front of the throttle body.
Hardest solution, pull off theplenum/intake manifold & work out what's been done to it, then go from there.
