yes. unless you have a very high ratio, it is unlikely the gears are anything but stock
just grab a diff carrier from T18 diff, and swap in your centre..
Righto,
Just made a right mess of my diff. Almost fully stripped the pinion, and although remarkably the crown wheel held together it is pretty chewed out. From what i can see the locking mechanism appears to be untouched. The diff centre is a trd 2 way mechanical in a T18 system.
My question is whether its possible to obtain the crown and pinion gears from somewhere? and are these likely to be the stock T18 items?
any help would be greatly appreciated![]()

It depends on the ratio that you had and whether you want the same one again as to how hard it'll be to obtain. If it was installed to a standard t18 rear end then any t series CW&P should fit.
The t18 came with 3.9 and 3.7 ratios as far as I know. I think the ratio is often stamped on the crownwheel but you can count the teeth to work it out pretty easily: (teeth on CW) / (teeth on P).
The last centre I bought was a 4.1 ratio out of an auto RA40 celica, it cost about $70 from U-pull, I would like a 4.3 but these are a bit rare. Anyway you could just get your centre installed in something like this.
You may also have bits of metal from the broken gears throughout your diff centre?
edit... too slow chicken merango
once again knowledge base on toymods takes the win. It was a 4.11, now with the 3 remaining pinion teeth its probably a bit higher![]()

the above link was helpfull too. So now to hunt up the parts![]()
so what diff is it?
t18 is a ke70 isnt it? not a model name we use over here.
if by chance this is the same diff as the ae8/te71 you can still get the CWP new, 4.3 and 4.77 ratios

please, no more PMs!
t18 is a te72
Having a few troubles finding the CWP, anyone reccommend somewhere? Living up in darwin isnt proving to help things![]()
hmm ok, so a t series diff like the ae86 (im a little rusty on diff codes as toyota doesnt use them for anything)
4.77 ratio is cheap new if that suits.
but im guessing a wreckers can sort you the stock ratios a lot cheaper!

Just go to a wrecker and grab one out of a celica, there should be plenty around... look on the nameplate for the axle code, from memory a 4.1 is a t292 axle (but check that website you have there)
I found a thread a second ago which had all the models that the t18 diff type was in but now i cant find itanyone know them off the top of their heads?
Ive got a spare set of 4.1 ratios (RA40, original auto, T292 diff, so not flogged). PM if you wanna sort out buying them.
