been up close and personal with a UK fitted Kameleon AW11. not really my style of bodykit, but different in it's own mind. as far as i know the people that made the kit did not have a scissor door option.
i 'was' going to make my own scissor doors for the feral at one stage, make my own hinge set-up etc. a little bit of thinking how it works and IMO it isnt a hard thing to do. lightening the doors (AW11 ones carry some weight) is a deffinate thing to do.

just going to throw this out there.... to each his own.
im not going to build my mr2 to please anyones appetite but my own.

another thing that i would like to point out..... beauty does not add speed.

I have what must be one of the worst looking mr's in the world, dented, rusted, cracked glass... i am frightened not by its appearance but by how quickly 160km/h comes and then is surpassed. i still don't know the top speed of this car as i chicken out at about 200k, with 2000rpm left before redline

fwiw.... i will be putting scissor doors on mine, the bottom of my doors scrape on most sidewalks. (intrax springs) I also thing they look cool

Arent there other things you would like to do to the car BEFORE scissor doors?

Perhaps an exhaust mod or some rims?

Hey most of us truckers are against the scissor doors, we are fans of suicide doors.

On the note of doing door conversions, make sure they sell all the structural strenghting with the kit. As it is nice and work fine when new, but wait a couple of months you'll be regretting your decison.

as soon as i saw the DUT link i thought the same thing..... crank or someone else will rip this guy apart if he starts asking about scissor doors for his MR2 on that site, they love ganging up on the new kids on that site... minitrucks about smooth sheet metal and customs everything, not add-on bling bits you can buy off ebay.

but i dont mind that blue thing, i wouldnt buy it or be seen in it but whoever owns it is at least consistent... if you want those doors go for it, its your car, you dont need approval from a forum to do something that you want...

i dont mind scissor doors .. just depends on the car as they dont suit all.

only problem is they are not engineerable unless you wanted to go through ADR testing and that would probably involve crashing 10 or so of said car with scissor kit attached.

    not very affordable.

each to their own huh guys, the guy who built that aw 11 obvoiusly likes it, and same goes for the ppl hovering around it,

personally, i think it looks ok, its different,

i have appreciation for alot of different cars, the amount of planning, blood, sweat and tears and also moneyt that ppl put into them has to be appreciated, the ppl who dont appreciate the work that goes into cars arent REAL car fanatics.

its ok to have your opinion as to wat you do and dont like, but the appreciation is a must.

personally i quite like scissor doors, i am putting some on my ra28 when i start on it and i dont give a rats ass wat ppl think, i build my cars to pls me, no 1 else.

go for the scissor doors if its wat you like mate, dont let others talk you out of something you like, your the 1 that pays for it and drives the car everyday!!

on another note, who is the guy that does the power windows for the 1st gens??
