Does your oil filter have an anti drainback valve in it? That's probably what causes it

It's probably just taking that 1 - 2 seconds to get oil through the galleries and filters up to pressure again

    what everyone else said.

but check your oil, it might need a little top up.

ive seen a few SV21's that have a bottom end knock because of low oil.

ive got one in the driveway (bought it blown).

oil shouldn't be low, i replaced it 4,000 kms ago but i'll still check it anyway,

there's no real bottom end knock, trust me my bluebird maybe a horrid bottom end knock.............right before the motor seized, thats what i got last time for not checking the oil,

yeah i'm probably thinking the oil pump is getting a bit worn being a 297k old engine
10w60 seems a bit extreme for an old camry, but i guess if you love your car spend the money,
genuine filter sounds like the go, i'll probably do that when i do the cambelt at 300,000km

    DO NOT trust the gauge.

My camry did the exact same thing, oil light would turn off after a few seconds of running, i didnt bother checking the oil, drove it and it seized after a few days of doing it.

oil was completely empty, no leaks or anything, just no oil.

And I was in the middle of the South Australian desert when it happened.

the same thing happened when my brother way driving my rt142 corona, oil pressure gauge was giving a proper reading but there wasnt any oil in it and it siezed.

from now on ill never EVER trust an oil pressure gauge, check ur oil on a regular basis.

Having said that i let another camry run low for 3 months without a problem so i guess its a gamble
