JZX81 = bolt in
JZX90 = custom setup
usually there is alot more than a $600 difference
Can someone tell me EXACTLY what the differences are between the two front cuts. The reason I ask is that there is a $600 difference in the price and want to know if getting the JZX81 is worth the extra $$. Its going into a 91 Cressida (surprise, surprise!) so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rich

JZX83+ FMIC+ Twin 2.5" dumps to 3"+ FCD+ 2800rpm stallie+ 14psi - LSD - good tyres = 12.85 @105.58
The boobs are back
So what is different surely someone knows. What has to be custom? I know the external panels are different but under the skin I would have thought they were very similar if not the same.
engine mount brackets are different, intercooler pipes are different, radiator is different, airbox is different, powersteering lines etc are different, AC condensor and lines are different, Ignitor mount is different, swaybar is different, brakes are different, struts are different, looms are different, etc etc etc.
using a JZX81 cut will have the conversion looking factory fitted, JZX90 will cost more to look factory fitted, but motor will be a little newer.
Thanks JP that was exactly what I wanted to know I guess I will spend the extra $$ and get the JZX81. The budget is going to be tight on this one so I thought if I could save $600 then I would. I really appreciate the response thanks very much.
doing an engine conversion on a "tight" budget isnt a good idea.
if you finish the conversion, and dont have 500-1000 left in your pocket, luck got ya through.
Elmo.
I usually add up all the costs for the cut, filters, fluids, belts, seals, wiring etc etc and then add another $1500 to that number for the conversion budget when going down the DIY path.
interesting note also that almost everything from the jzx81 fits straight into the engine bay on the mx73, intercooler piping and all, only real things changes were the engine mounts and 1 a/c line the rest just went straight in.

the jzx81 is more expensive cos noobs like me can buy one and bolt the guts into a cressida without cutting grinding or bashing anything
also their getting older so that means harder to find thus more expensive
fear the chicks car
