There was a guy who offered to sell me his 1G and it had a 6 speed on it.. He didnt say what the box was but I assume it was a R152.. Offered to sell me the motor ECU loom and i assume the R152 gearbox on it for $2500.. Might be an idea to contact him.. His user name was S.A.M. Hope this is helpfull..

    Thanks,

    Pisso.

The 6 speed that bolts to the 1G is a J160, and it no stronger than a W58

If you're smashing the input shaft, then looking at gearsets is useless, you'll still smash the input shaft.

That's what you HAVE to upgrade.
If you don't get a good quality input shaft in, you'll keep having issues. If you're stripping gears in the gearbox, thats the time to look at new gearsets.

Strange, I've broken 4 W5x boxes, never had a problem with input shafts though - only smashed teeth?

The rod shop don't make bell housings form them.

With gear sets they do make new input shafts as well as all the gears are helical cut to match and are stronger but don't make bullet input shafts to suit stock configuration.

I've blown boxes a ton of ways, from selector forks, picking up the front bearing on the lay shaft and of course the input shafts, which of course damges the lay shaft. I have worked out and fixed what causes the forks to break and why the bearing grabs on the lay shaft but can't do much about the teeth breaking. I have never broken a gear or as I hear a lot do the snap the out put shaft.
