I have KYB AGX in the rear of my ke30. Adjustable they are. Not cheap but they are niiiiiiiiice
Hello,
I am looking for suggestions re shocks for rear of KE30. The car has a 20v silver top and T50 but otherwise standard with standard rear leaf springs.
What would improve handling but not give too harsh a ride?
Also what is available for the front struts. Can you get decent strut inserts?
cheers peter
get the leafs reset and have an extra main leaf added to the pack, makes it nice and stiff, not point spending out on awesome shocks if the spings are shit.
cuzzo has this already in his car, how do i know, he bought them off mehehe

I can vouch for these. While riding in the back of Josh's car, I found the suspension felt rather firmOriginally Posted by emp?

I have just put in two monroe gas shocks, far better then the original hydro ones. I have a spare set of leaf springs, what's the procedure for adding another leaf from the spares?
:edit: Is there another way to lower leaves without blocks?

Doesn't sound promising. Simple question, but what is meant by "resetting" leaf springs?

basically resetting leaves mean the suspension joint will rebend your springs to your requirements. when getting them reset, just tell them i want them lower by xx, and they'll do it for ya.
the way i solved my rear tram issues is to get a main leaf outta a pack, cut the front eye off it, place it above the leaf pack on the car, then cut the leaf just behind the diff mount, then make some clamps to tighten it all together. works an absolute treat. ive only got pedders 'comfort (bullshit) gas' shocks in the back, and ive removed 2 leaves from the original pack.. without the cut leaf it used to tramp like a bastard!
I had my KE30 back end lowered and stiffened by getting the leafs reset and fitting some sachs borg shockers...also put some new bushes in whilst it was getting done....
now its nice n stiff - heaps less axle tramp (but a lot rougher ride over bumps)
I had my rear springs reset with the top leaf (the ones with the eyes in them) turned upside down. Drops the car an inch and a bit just by doing that, then if you get all the leaves reset another inch it sits pretty low. And no axle tramp and no ugly lowering blocks. Does mean though if you have to take the diff out, you have to undo the rear mounts on the leaves and swing it down a bit.
Recommend RT104 corona T series diffs as a good replacement of U series or borg warner rubbish. A little wider and need mounts moved in slightly, but the extra rear track fills the guards nicely and inmproves the handling.

AE92 Lueno GT-Apex (zenki Trueno with a Levin front end) - BT 20V & LSD
KE30 Tudor - 2T-GEU, T50, T292
What price would I be looking at for this? I'm going to get the front shocks and springs done in the very near future, so I could get it done at the same time.Originally Posted by TE35
Thing is, I've got 165/75 tires so the car sits fairly high. Measuring under the car, I can drop it 3", and still keep it legal. As I'm fitting 13x6 rims instead of 13x4, I only want to lower it about 2".
I just put in another (stock) Borg Warner, leaves and shocks. Not going to slot in another diff till this one dies. Could be sooner rather than later...
The whole package is in far better condition than what was there, and it came off my parts car, the car which in total cost me $50. So I'm not about to replace it unless it fails.

Well they were originally 155/80 (I think) but no-one made that size anymore. The guy at Bob Jane tried to get me to buy a set of 185/55 or something like that, but not for $370 I wasn't going to!
The Mustard is one-third daily, one-third project and one-third weekend warrior, so unlike most member's I've only got two thirds of a car to play with. It's a delicate balance.
