Take it back and make them replace it or if too short on time go to the nearest car parts retailer and say I need a lower timing chain for a celica/corona '75 - '80 with an 18R-C engine.

Lilcrash, sorry I don't have a mom... but I do have a Mum, and her boyfriend is a great source of custom work. Will discuss with him over Christmas.

In better news, my new aluminium flywheel is on it's way from the US of A (finally, it didn't get posted until 29 days after I paid for it even though it was advertised as being in stock ). It includes a shiny new Excedy clutch.

If anyone is after a factory flywheel which has been surfaced recently, and a slightly higher pressure than standard clutch in good condition for cheap, let me know. Be aware that postage won't be the cheapest on these due to weight.

    As per the oddities forum.

it states that the bottom chain is the same as the Holden 253/308 chain.

not sure how true. but if they put it on thiat forum, should be true.

    Hi,

Alexandria??? The ancient Carthage city? I know the 18R-G is an old engine, but not quite that old.

I have the original green 18R engine book it shows the 18RG set up.
There are two types of CAM gears

Early three bolt same as 8RB single cam
    Late Dowelled.
They timing chains might have a bright link.
I have the correct adjusting special tool which I scanned in and posted here years ago.
Its easy to do the chains all top dead centre stuff.
Last thing you adjust is the tensioner, the rest all just drop on.
The dizzy goes to number one there is a small mark.
    The gears all face up
    No. one on TDC

    QED

See if you can find an engine book or check other websites.
or I will scan but dont come here too much I find too many Net Nazis,
