Thanks for the responses everyone, I'll look into it. I'll be buying all the 18RGEU EFI gear soon, It comes with the Loom which I thought I would have needed for the plugs O__o Then again I could get them from random cars... hmmm. Anyways sorry for hijacking the thread from Roadkill.

Umm... it's not Ben's thread, so you aren't hijacking. In answer to Ben's question, I bought a full gasket kit not too long ago, and the items which you will also need to get is a second O-ring for the dizzy/oil pump drive guide, and the half moon bungs for the back of the head (I got mine new from Toyota).

As for the Megasquirt, if you are not willing to test your skillz on a turbo, and aren't into electronics, don't use the build yourself ones. There is however prebuilt models available, and these are a really powerful bit of gear for a good price. Not sure how the ease of use of the interface is compared with other more commercial models is, however it does give a LOT of info back.

As for the plugs, I have been generally buying new ones. Most are available, and most sensors I have replaced with modern units anyway, which have plugs available new. I am definitely not a fan of using secondhand plugs, as the plastics go brittle, which results in loose connections, and intermittent problems, which are the hardest to solve.

Ben try road and track at ipswitch. They will apparently resurface the slippers, offered to do it when i had my RG done there. I ended up getting second hand ones in decent condition for cheaper - from memory resurface was around $250

    Hi,

You'll want fuel pumps also if you are going EFI. Maybe a surgey also.

Thanks for the flywheel info Rudi and Pretzl.

Do you happen to have the part number for a new ring gear rudi? If it's only $85 new, it's hardly worth reclaiming a S/H one.

Anyone care to guess how much a complete 18RG weighs? Bought yet another one, but i'm getting some pretty varied quotes on shipping

    No wuckas mate.

Part number is 13453-20010, looks to be used in huge range of engines. (I looked up an 18RGEU Corona on toyodiy at the time)

Just checked and that price didn't include postage (as I bought it at the same time as other parts, so postage may make it less economical unless you do the same).

Yeah when I looked on amayama it was going to be around $150 or so with shipping, or maybe more.
So I went with the 2nd hand option.

That saved money can buy lots of beer!

I should have checked Wikipedia from the start, It's got weights listed, however they vary from 165kg to 182kg or thereabouts depending on what generation it is, which I somehow doubt. I'll tell them 200 to be safe.
