Just for closure on my issue earlier..

We welded a bung into the exhaust and found that while my car was lean, it wasn't as drastically bad as the dyno suggested.

    I was running

    Main jet - 135
    Main air - 175
    Pilot - 65

Replacing the main air with a 160 instantly made the car run through the rev range much more cleanly without running out of steam in the top end. However the AFR were still heading up to 16 with wide open throttle.

I then put in the 145 main jets and it runs through the rev range better again, and the AFR's spend their time around 14.

My carby guru thinks I could probably go to 150's, but I will leave it alone for the moment and see how it goes to Sydney and back at these settings.

Fuel pressure appears fine on a gauge, so I think the issue was just lean mixtures and a dodgy dyno reading blowing things out of proportion (and maybe my stress too!)

Good news on the jets and pressure.

Have a great trip to Sydney and enjoy Toyfeast.

    ditch carbies
    go EFI
    .... never look back.

Seriously, my EFi 18RG, even in hektik busted arse form, was waaaaay better than any carby 18RG ive driven.

It would have to be ITBs to make me swap to EFI. The reason i like the carbies is for the induction noise even if it does cost a little hp and efficiency compared to EFI.

Well tuned carbs will perform as good as EFI, especially in regards to the old school EFI that was used back in the 70s. Carbies however need to be tweaked and tuned often. If this is too difficult for you, or too expensive to get done regularly, then go EFI.

The casting on the block has 11411-33011 with another number above it which is hard to make out in the driveway with a torch
Finally got around to getting some pics of my engine number

coolant temp sender should be the same as the 18R-C item. Same thread, and goes to the same gauge.

Looks to be for an 18R not and 18RG? The pipework is setup for a non crossflow head by the looks? there's no crossover? or i guess the intake to the turbo crosses over as well? Would love to see it bolted on an engine

Rens, are there any other numbers following the 0004 in your engine number or do you have the 4th 10R ever made??
