I have an Altezza 6 speed gearbox ready and waiting to go in. But seeing as you're in NZ it might work out more economical to source one over there.

Apart from that I've done a Gen 2 3SGE into a Datsun 1600 which wouldn't be too dissimilar to putting it into an AE86.

The whole RWD conversion is a bit of a bugger of a job, but would probably be made a whole lot easier if you can find (and afford) a RWD Altezza motor in the first place.

On the fuel pump front I would probably go with a regular EFI pump and run a return line as these are relatively cheap and easy to find when you need to replace it.

Glen (Celica RA45) may make an appearance here and offer you some advice. He's done a bunch of BEAMS motors into his RA45 Celica.

They don't run a variable speed pump. The volts to the fuel pump stays the same all the time and they run 62psi constant.

So Bill, do the pumps have a bypass valve to reduce flow, when the engine is in a low fuel demand state, ie. overrun/idle?

    cheers Chuck

No they don't. (AFAIK) It's 62psi all the time.

So we just supply a constant head of pressure to the rail, and wait for the injectors to do their thing. Well I suppose that will reduce the frictional heat in the fuel, not constantly being pumped around a circuit.

    cheers Chuck.

I use a Supra pump of some sort, and the fuel pressure is regulated to 62psi but the rail has an 'in' and 'out' like a regular one.

Run a tpiece off the fuel line after the pump running back to the tank (or run it internal). Either way in this line, get a hydraulic or similar one way flow valve and have the pressure spring set to required pressure to bypass the dead headed fuel back to tank.

Beauty of this is it either stays in the tank or is very close to the tank reducing plumbing and fuel heat.
