Wow, that's really interesting - more interesting would be how you calculated that
The new revision mount points seem to be a lot more E51 friendly.
well... the plot thickens....
your 86 isnt an 86... its an August 85 build going from that chasis number.
your 87 is infact a november 87.
now anything made 87+ (or infact sept (iirc) 86) is the new revison. which changed a number of items engine mounts (ignoring SC) included.
unfortunantly i cant help you too much as i dont know exactly what changed in the 87+ revision but hopefully pointing you in the right direction with the build dates is a start.

just a few thoughts off the top of my head.
1) the mount at the timing belt end. cant you simply remove the mount from your old engine. i imagine it'll bolt up to the new block no stress.. and hence correctly onto the original mounts..
2) the pre revision units had different length LCA and hence a differetn carrioer bolted to the chasis.
is is possible its this different carrier that is casuing you the grief as well ?
The old engine doesn't exist any more - i bought this project part-done.
It had done trackwork with a DODGY engine setup. I think my spacer job will be fine (disagree?).
WRT the LCA, do you mean the assembly's that bolt to the chassis and connect the lower ball joint of the hub etc? I believe these have been replaced with those from an 89 halfcut.
What do you mean by 'carrier'?
well the mr2 has a nice system where the LCA and the rear tie rod isnt conected direct to the chassis. its connected to a carrier which then bolts to the chasis.
if you measure the length of the lca you can check if its the prerevision suspension or the post revision..
i cant say thats defianntly the cause i was just thinking that he suspension carrier looks close to the cvjoint there. i was just thinking possibly its becasue of the pre-reviision suspension being in such a place that the sc gear dosent quite fit... just a thought..
althogh it is more likleyt hat you are sitll having engine mount issues especially if it isnt sitting neat and level.
never had that problem in the feral. complete gze/e51 swap into 87 na chassis.Originally Posted by Phildo

Yeah, we established that the chassis got an overhaul post late 86, so everything will be sweet with my 87
I guess that leaves me with two options:
Use a C52 (REALLY dont want to)
Weld a new mount point to the body (REALLY dont want to take the engine out)
Sigh.
Someone save me!
would like to have a looksee. i'll be up in perth this w-end for the classic challenge, not sure if i'm going to have much spare time though.![]()
sorry i didnt post the link on how to get the build dates.
its been posted on toymods several times before but just for reference

SOLVED!!!
I swapped the top transmission mount as a few people suggested for a SC one, but took a picture of both before i swapped it, here you go:
NA Mount (note how high the bolt will be):
And the SC (lowwww rider):
And what do you know, i installed them and everything fixed itself.
Bolts slotted in with ease.
GOT CLEARANCE!?
ALSO NO MORE SQUASHY SQUASHY!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for all who helped.
SC engine mounts saved the day. Beer oclock for sure.
