    Default st184 engine rebuild Q's

I picked up a 1990 st184 for my little brother the other day for $1000.

Now it needs a little work on the body and the motor has seen better days but for the price it was worth it.

Has anyone had a 5S-FE rebuilt before any idea what it costs. I know it depends alot on who does the work but any examples would be good.

Anyone know any good mechanics in the brissy, gold coast area that charge a fair hourly rate and are trustworthy.
The closest good mechanic I know is in Toowoomba which is a bit too far to drive.

    Thanks

the best engine builder i know that is honest and does what he says he will is where fat engines used to be at zillmere find there adress in the phone book and go there, but its not fat engines anymore he hasnt bothered to give out a business name as he doesnt need too. word of mouth when you do a good job is the best advertising.

LOL yeah berad I got the whole car for $1000 not just the motor, that would be steep.

I will check it out hopefully the listing has not been removed for that company

yer when i first read it i thought it was for the engine, but then had to edit haha.

Its going to be alot cheaper if you just buy a 2nd hand 5sfe off one of the boys who have done a gen 2 3sge conversion or 3sgte conversion or even a wreckers i dont imagine they would be to sought after and should be reasonably priced.

yeah gotta agree in getting another engine, they are freaking cheap, can be found in camry's as well, and most car yards are always trying to get rid of them.

the "normal retail" price for a reconditioned 5SFE is around $2490. Not possible to do them for a lot less as they are so fiddly. I agree with Richard, they can be bought for bugger-all at most wreckers. if you have no luck contact me. www.roadandtrack.net.au
