    Default Lucas Plugs

Has anyone used Lucas spark plugs ?

    I'm currently using Bosch W8DC
in my KE70 and was thinking of
switching to a slightly colder one,
W7DC, when I saw some Lucas plugs
    in this auto parts store.

i dont think it matters what you use on a KE70 as it wont make eny diffrents to the way the car runs, but all depends on the condition of the motor. i just used NGK standard plugs when i had my KE70, worked fine, and learnd a good leason, dont spend more money than you need to.

I would not use anything that has Lucas on it. If it does rest assured it is crap. I have changed thousands of plugs and the only ones I use are NGK and Nippon Denso. They are both very good. NGK are easier to aquire in hotter or colder heat ranges. Just ask the guy at the counter what you want and he will go up or down a range - whatever you want.

    Thanks, everyone.

Yes, for some reason Champion plugs
don't seem to be compatible with Japanese
cars. I tried them once in my previous car,
an Isuzu Gemini during the 80s and they
    fouled up pretty fast.

NGK and Nippondenso are quite commonly
used in Malaysia. However, they're no longer
from Japan these days - NGK is made locally
here and Nippondenso in Indonesia. The
common NGK hot plugs here are BP5ES
    and colder ones BP6ES, Nippondenso
    equivalents W16EX-U and W20EX-U.
NGK has one with a "V" groove electrode,
I think BP5EY/BP6EY, which is supposed to
give improved sparking, somewhat similar to
    Nippondenso's "U" groove lower electrode.
I used it once, and it did appear to improve
    performance.

The Lucas ones in that shop look like
new ones. They had stocks of several
types, including those for 16-valve engines.
They said they had been selling them for
years ! The counter guy showed me one with
a "7" suffix on it, which I remember checking
on the net was a colder one equivalent to
    NGK BP6ES or Bosch W7DC.

Anyway, after reading all your good feedback,
I think I'll stick with NGK or Bosch !

doesnt matter where its made, as long as the design and construction is sound.

you'll be pretty safe using NGK, bosch or nippon denso. never heard of lucas spark plugs before, so im not going to knock them until ive tried/seen results.

toddw.. lucas make some pretty good street brake pads.

Ah..... I finally found Lucas. This looks
like the standard hot plug for the KE70,
except the one they showed me in
the auto parts shop was PSB7E2, a
colder one. The boxes were green, too.
    They're made in China !

Seems they make some pretty innovative
    ones with O-type electrodes too.

if like other automotive parts, it may all be made in the same factory
ie most different branded gaskets, trident, ECL
