with the quads and 2 stage you start to run out of room, so its easier to mount them on a angle to the butterfly ,that way i can still fit the air box over the whole assembly
on length of ram tubes have done a lot of runs to work which is the better of 2 evils power hear or there and it makes it harder when you are still using vvti as well
at the moment i have max torque at 5800 rpm and also at 6900 rpm ,then torque starts running off after that till red line at 8800 rpm

    ok, cool.

reason i ask is i'm goign down the quads road, and i'm trying to decide weather to just make the "trumpets" as long as i can, or have a silicone hose in the middle (with the ends of the pipe chamfered of course) so i can adjust them as required.

if it takes too many dyno pulls and retuning i think i'll just take a best guess and leave it at that.

now im starting to think about variable length induction, and all thta entails...

    EDIT:

oh yeah, who does/where do you do your tuning?

work out your exhaust headers 1st or you will have to keep changing your ram tubes to the disired length

The reason we used large injectors ( we don't have to worry about idle) on the 1uz was to keep the injection period within the induction period so as to minimise any residual pulse causing reversion. We do have some fogging within the trumpet around 7000 rpm only.

Are you changing injection end time relative to the vvt inlet close point ?
Is your vvt switched or infinite, at what rpm ?
What duty cycles are inner and outer running at 5800 and 8500 rpm ?

at 5600 its 40% inboard and 60% out board
at 8600 its 20% inboard and 80% out board
with the vvti its moving around depending on where your foot is on the loud pedal
on idle its off and around 5000rpm its on its max advance after this it starts to retard back for the top end
on the exhaust vvti on idle its fully retarded and moves back to the off posi at about 5000 rpm
with the outboards they are running at 59 % duty cycle at full revs
