I only ask because i believe some people only see the rep system as a way of being able to sell stuff and everything. If you put down some impoertant information with low rep, people may feel that you need rep and give it, where as in oldcorollas case, they see he has over 100 and think "ah he doesn't need it".

Just curious to know if this actually happens as i feel it would...
ahh shite.. just erased that whole post

    anyway, to briefly summarise

yes it slowed down after 100, and i can only assume people think i don't need more.
in reality, i don't need more... other people need me to have more

the more rep i get, the higher rep power i get, and the more i give out each time.
i consistently give a lot of rep, and often cannot due to repping too much (in a 24hr period.. but i think this is a good limiter tho)

MOST IMPORTANTLY people should still feel like they want to contribute to the forums regardless of rep or not. i try to help or give insight where possible.. rep to me doesn't matter a) because i am (finally) a club member, and b) i have only sold maybe 2 or 3 things thru toymods since it began (although a) negates b) anyway....)
I know there are some/many ppl that still think i am spamming the forums, but i see things differently to most people as i have a very different area of expertise and have a diverse skillset due to my experiences..

so yes, i think ppl are either resisting to give rep, or i am now posting shite and dribble... could easily be either , either way

edit: and no, i don't look at someones rep before giving it to them... (except to see what my current rep power is )

If Anyone is questioning oldcorollas contribution to the forums as spamming. I'll go he!!

Oldcorollas and a small hand full of others have started some quailty threads and set a high standard in which others are following. In my opinion he deserves his rep. (also he would have more from me if it wasn't for the limits.)

More or less it comes down to the old "Green eyed monstor" called jealousy. Some ppl see others with higher rep and question it because they are jealous. Its sad considering we should all be mature adults and someone such as oldcorollas does have a wealth of knowledge to share that some of us don't.

We are all here to learn more and have questions answered in regards to our cars (hopefully toyotas) and thats it.

I have found I have gotten more rep from posts in general car talk than anywhere else, and some other rep which I didn't really expect from non-car discussion. In fact the only rep I have gotten from tech and conversions has been neutral.

The fact it has been left and I know it was supposed to be postive shows I have helped someone which does make you feel good. The rep system in my opinion is great as it rewards those who make a valid or helpful contribution to the forum, and also deters whoring and offensive posts. It also acts as self moderation, as if ppl are offended by something they can show their feelings and the person can choose to kerb their actions in the future.

Ahhh, thanks. Well, that clears that up and puts it to bed for me.

I think this also happened to Cool1 a few weeks ago and the rep was then taken away from him after the Admin realised they gave too much.

You may be, others may not. As I said above, I also don't care anymore. Nevertheless, seems a little self-important to demand lockage just because you don't want to read the thread. If you don't want to read it, why open it?

Um guys not sure if I am supposed to but my rep value seems to be two, just gave some out to a couple ppl and both time their rep gained two points. I only have 18 rep I thought you needed 100 to get a rep power of two.

Is it meant to be two.

Well ive just been alerted to this thread.. how bizare

This is a link to user ira11y's 'all posts by this user'. How does he have 30 reputation after posting only 11 times and contributing no generally useful or technical info in that time? In fact in one thread he's selling something and slandering the intelligence of others.
September squall, Im trying to remeber if ive pissed you off at some point, because it seems like you are dedicating a lot of time, time that could be better spent advancing the forums and helping other users to improve thier toyota knowledge, stressing about how many rep points i have.

Frankly you seem to care a whole lot more than me cause I couldnt give a rats about it.

As for slandering intelligence, its not hard to do when someone cant distinguish between driveshafts and CV's, in fact ive seen you pay out on people many times over the years in the previous forums for a lot less.

generally speaking ive found most things you have to say are positive and helpfull over time. So thats why im wondering if you have suddenly got some angst against me?

If you do lets hear it, cause frankly I havent even been on the forums enough in the last 9 months to type a simple hello, so im trying to figure out whats going on.

I did ask for some points in the first few days of swapping to the new forums in order to post a for sale thread.

Frankly I think ive been around and contributed to Toymods for long enough that I could be entitled that one off special privilage. However im happy to put it out there to the majority to rule on, if you all want it changed then so be it. Due to work commitments I dont have time to be on the forums enough to gain enough rep to post in for sale and thats why you havent seen me around much in the last year or so, that was the original reason for asking the mods for rep.

i dont think he is actually questioning your integrity mate per se yet the system itself and using you as an example of possible abuse and an "in crowd" bolstering those who had a good rep in the old forums and trying to "assist" them along ...
if offense is take, maybe a pm or 2 is the place to clear it ?

i cant count the number of times he's helped me... i'd give him rep points even without reading his posts, just because i know he's a helpful person.

I think that's the gist of it. ira11y has helped a lot of people for a very long time and his reputation from the older forums has flowed over to these new ones.

At the beginning of these forums, I went through and repped everyone that I knew was a great resource of technical knowledge and he was one of them (I'm the admin that repped him). Perhaps other people have done the same?

His AE71 ruled. I am trying to remember if someone ended up buying it?

ira11y did contribute a hell of a lot on the old forums. I looked him up and he contributed a huge 2435 posts. (clicks 'all posts by this user' only to find 41 pages of topics). I can't find it, but I seem to recall he had a big technical worklog on his AE71/4AGE conversion?
