Default Adjustable Actuator on Garrett GT28RS / Disco potato

    Gday lads and ladies,

I want an adjustable actuator to suit use on my gt28rs, something like this:

    http://www.nengun.com/hks/heavy-duty-actuators

I want something thats going to fit relatively easily and not involve having to fabricate brackets myself and whathaveyou. GCG did/do sell something similar i think maybe, not sure how much for. Nengun have no idea which of those suit.

I found an ebay listing which was the s13/14 unit and said suits gt28r, but thats as close as i've got.

So yeah, anyone done this with this turbo and have any words of wisdom?

    Cheers

Off the top of my head the gt28r has a 53mm wheel while gt28rs has 53.8mm, not sure about other differences, but i don't want to spend $150 to find it won't fit and a different one would have

I've always thought the disco potato referred to gt28rs only. In any case its just a name

    disco potata has the s
    because a disco potato is a hi-flowed gt28r*
    the s denotes hi-flowed.*
why the fuck its called a disco potato is beyond me...
    i reckon it will fit...*

    * denotes speculation and hear-say.... but thats always right fuck ya

is the adjustability about setting the actuator's arm length? if so why not like this?

maybe some nuts to lock it in place? im sure this could be done for all of $10?

or is it about the actuator and pressure?

You need a left handed tap for that though, on the other hand you can tap a thread into one section and weld a sleeve to the other section. And add an extra nut in for locking it down.

    Go kart bits

You can buy tie rods for a go cart. They come already tapped ( one lefthand thread one right. ) To use as the actuator arm. This way all you have to do it tap a thread on to your existing actuator arm with a die to make it fully adjustable.
They come straight ...ofcourse but can easily be modified if needed

You can get the arms for $10
    They also look the part.
    Just another option ??

I have a Disco potatoe on my 3T-GTE and after rotating the comp housing, found myself in the same boat (Need to extend actualtor arm).

By doing this I wouldn't have thought it would effect the actuator and wastegate in any way mechanically, ie change spring pressures resulting in manipulating boost settings etc??

I will prolly end up making a sleeve with left hand thread as described so it will reach.
