Fuel Cut Defender?
Has it got an exhaust?
- LeeRoy
I'v just done the twin turbo conversion mod on my 2jz. In 3rd gear on the auto it hits a solid 10psi every time. But in second gear it just keeps spiking and hitting fuel cut. Anybody had a similar problem or know how to fix it.

Nah it hasn't got a fcd. It does have a 3inch exhaust and the actuator in the downpipe has been removed.

install a restrictor ring in your exhaust
Yup, this is very common with 2JZ's when you install a free-flowing exhaust. The problem is the wastegate is too small, and the only solution (without spending a lot of money) is the aforementioned exhaust restrictor. I have a 2.5" restrictor at the end of my dump pipe and that seems to work well.

new computer or restrictor. its a buttache inducing turbo system on them.
this will allow you to generate just as much power as a dead stock 2j, without the chunky low down torque.(that last sentance could be jealosy)

A new computer won't increase gasflow through the wastegate, all it will do is remove the fuel cut - and potentially allow the engine to reach dangerous boost levels!
Restrictor or new turbo(s). Personally I prefer the latter.![]()

but with new computer you can put enough full in to stop it leaning out like an fcd would cause it to. so yeah obviously a pair of rx6's is the way to go![]()

It's a turbo dude.

Restrictors are sucky... I've had to pull my exhaust from 3inch to a 2.5inch cone, then I have to put about 4mm of weld bead around the inside of the 2.5inch pipe to bring the restrictino back enough to not hit over 18psi...
You can open the gate up and put in a new flap, but this issue with this being that you have to take the turbo's off, and if they are off, it's generally more preffered to 'leave' them off![]()
