Default 2JZ drive belt sliding backward

Sorry about the title, but here is my problem. I originally thought that my alternator was seized and that was causing the problem, but it wasn't, my eyesight must be going on me.

But after I put the alternator back in the howl was still there when I started the car. Using my wife, who has better eyesight then myself we discovered the drive belt was working its way backwards off the tensioner pulley. I checked the belt and it was on all the other pulleys correctly, so I centered it on the tensioner pulley and started the car again, noise is only there slightly upon startup (falcon style), definately need new belt. However it still works its way to rub on the tensioner arm (making up a name for the arm the tensioner pulley sits on).

What could cause this? just a worn out belt or something more sinister? before the belt gets to the tensioner pulley it comes from the alternator, which has no play in it at all.

Appreciate the help, I am learning as I go here .

    Thanks.

EDIT: I went and got my video camera to make a recording of the noise, then it refused to do it any more. I may have to carry the camera with me all the time to keep the noise away

Possibly, I will have to check it, knowing my luck I was expecting something much more sinister.

sorry for the ignorance, but if that has happened, it would cause me to be able to move the crankpulley with my hands? I couldnt move it at all, no play etc.

that's good news then yeah, the outside would move independantly of the inside.

I'm going to join the call to check your tensioner... they can become loose and bend your belt in the wrong direction
