$200 for pretty much unbreakable, brand new driveshafts that are one piece, is cheap in my eyes

Dude, 200 hundred each is actually only $20,000 each - still a tad on the expensive side though =)

Had a look under the car while on a hoist.
It seems the inner CV-shaft joint is ok.
But, the inner CV can move slightly relative to the gearbox. ie in/out about 2mm & also can twist.
    Is this normal?

yes it's a sliding type joint - it has to move as the suspension moves up & down, or the driveshaft would lock up. if it wobbles backward & forward you have a problem though (put car in gear & wobble wheel backwards & forward. should be minimum freeplay

The shaft isn't moving relative to the CV (well it should but its not doing anything it shouldn't like spinning relative to each other), but the inner CV is moving slightly relative to the gearbox.
Would this mean the CV part with the male spline is worn, or the female part on the diff?

    That's just the diff
There's always a bit of slack in a diff
