Hmm This is off an IS200 forum:

    A01A - 3.916 ratio Open Centre
    A01B - 3.916 ratio Torsen LSD
    A02A - 4.083 ratio Open Centre
    A02B - 4.083 ratio Torsen LSD

Which doesn't correlate with the russian info, but does somewhat correlate with the 2,3,4,5...

Edwagon - if the IS200 ones are anything to go by (and it works that way), it would be 3.916.

Cheers edwagon. Every time I hear that a D = LSD, it just confirms it for me.

Mos - Are you sure the IS200s don't just use the old system? ie only As or Bs, no Cs or Ds?

Cheers Mos, the Is200 codes seem to work the same as the Soarer codes then. I thought I had them sussed until I opened up the A02D chaser and found a 3.7. I have a feeling that the jza80 Supras have a different set of ratios to Soarers too (4.1 is the same, but AFAIK they have a 3.7 instead of 3.9). When I crack open the Aristo A01A I'll add it to the list in case anyone else comes across one.

When I ordered my A02D and had i sent up from a wrecker down the line, I was sweating a bit beause its hard to find reliable info and I was scared Id just paid big bucks for a filthy single spinner, but sure enough it was the mighty torsen. Someone suggested that maybe D = Drift, so I guess it figures!

Not sure what you mean there?

My understanding was: 2,3,4,5 - old system, A,B,C,D - new system. (Note that this is the last character of the code, and not the first).

If you're saying it's: A,B - old system, C,D - new system, I have no idea what you're talking about

I guess I've got it wrong in my head then. I'm most certainly not an expert on axle codes

I assumed there must have been 3 systems -
    2, 3, 4, 5 - oldest
    then A and B only
    then A, B, C and D - newest

The reason I thought they must have redone the letter system was because on Supras and IS200s (as you posted above), you can only get A or B - and a B meant LSD. Since there are no Cs or Ds available on them and that Russian site shows A, B, C and D (with different meanings for the A and B codes), I just assumed it must have been a new system.

Not that I know of, but I'd love it if we had one.

On the my.is site (US IS300 site) they mention C and D but nothing hugely structured and sometimes inconsistent.
