    Sweet, will need one too.
Will also need a couple of volunteers to pick our cars up from whichever depot they get dropped at.

may be able to offer accom in townsville.

cairns is worth checking out if you can but if you push on to NT then the only decent road is through townsville->mt isa-> etc so keep that in mind.

i may be interested in the tvl - mt isa leg if you go that way.

wilbo may even be still living in mt isa at that time if he is lucky haha

Pretty sure Cairns is already on the list.
If for no other reason than the road leading out of it.

I'm working on getting the thread title changed, can't do it myself, and I couldn't post in the Forum Questions section, so I've PM'ed river.

I'm working through the maps at the moment to get a more accurate picture, once I've done the first few of them, I'm going to start posting them up. I'll try to keep the first post updated, I've been busy over the last couple of days

port douglas is even better than cairns. i havent made it up that far yet but its very nice from all accounts.

beware of smaller roads on google, they may be dirt with severe corrugations.

even some of the non-main roads are narrow and in terrible conditions. road trains with up to 5 trailers use roads around north-western qld.

Yeah, sticking to roads that are known to be alright.

Road-trains are fine, you can't head east from Perth without encountering them

More than welcome. It's that big a journey, picking up people along the way was always on the cards I'll update the first post soon with some maps.

Was in two minds, three actually. Those are two options, but there is also another road which cuts through to Hughenden. It looks sealed on Google Maps. I've not investigated it much yet though.
