    chevs fit into anything.
    GA23(never finished-now with cracked block ) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.

    smaller than any other v8 pretty much

    Most of the width is the top of the engine though (ie the heads) which shouldn't be anywhere near the frame rails. Surely the overall engine bay width should be able to accomodate a 1UZ, didn't this model have some sizeable OHC V8's from the factory?

    Yes its a stock run-of-the-mill W114 280CE..

    I will endeavour to try and get in there with a tap measure and report back the usable space - ive done it before but I cant remember the numbers. Can anyone confirm how much minimum space I would need for a 1UZ or does 800mm sound like its enough?
