    Default 2JZ-GE into a '75 Merc coupe

Hi all, couple of questions regarding the above subject.. id like to put a 2JZ-GE into my 75 Merc coupe.. Currently it has the stock standard M110 engine which is 2.8 DOHC EFI with a 4sp auto. Id like a motor that is more modern, powerful, practical and economical compared to the 30 yo motor currently in it. What do I need to measure and take into account to ensure that it will fit? Also whats the availability/price of 2JZ-GE manual front cuts in Aust? Im open to other suggestions but im not interested in a turbo motor - I originally wanted to put in a 1UZ but have found out that the bay is too narrow.

    Cheers,
    Adam

The engine bay is too narrow for a 1uz????? in a 75 merc coupe? I find that hard to believe.

If a 1uz will fit in a ra23, it sure as shit should fit in a 75 merc coupe, they're the really flat fat ones aren't they? I happen to like them.

Hmm.. done a bit of googling and the outlook looks bleak... according to these links..

    http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=5&gl=au

    http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=3&gl=au

    http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache...lnk&cd=1&gl=au

More than one person is saying neither the 1UZ or 1JZ will fit... they say the chassis rails are too narrow.

thats a w123 isnt it? theirs a bloke whos done a 2jzgte and it fits, not much room lengthwise though- why dont you have a look at a BA falcon six? ive always thought that would be a good conversion, and the mounts are in a similair place to merc sixes, their cheap and parts are everywhere. If you run out of options, ive got a 450 sel injected v8 that will bolt straight it if your interested also im about to get a s500 v12, but thats for my next project( w123 230e).

w114 and w123 use the same series engines so what fits in one should fit in the other. the v8 i got is out of a w116.

the BA "barra" engine sounds interesting.. 182kw.. could be a fairly cheap and interesting swap.

From what I have gathered you need a 800mm cube space for a 1UZ.. is this true? if so, Ive measured before and there is definately no way it will fit across wise.

no one to my knowledge, just the easiest way to get a merc v8 singing. the benz motors are set up to make tourqe so they take to forced induction really well. there are some kits floating around in europe but it would definatly be easier to just make your own here.
    More old school merc tuning!!!!!!!.

Mate has a Chev in his '69... Not sure on the model number though, but the one with the upstanding headlights... Plenty of room in them...
