Are you sure you want that short a ratio?
Hi,
Are there any 4.5 ratio crown and pinion centres to fit a t18 diff?
I know techno Pro Spirit make them but is there like a factory second hand one i could get?
cheers

And I'm not just saying that, it's going to be a PITA generally. I mention it, because wouldn't a 4.3:1 be a more common ratio?

will be a pain in the arse.. even for track work, because you will be changing gears so much and get stuck in wrong gear more often... might be good for rallycross or hillclimb, but on an open track... pain in the arse...
you might be better off getting the gearbox ratios sorted to your powerband first.. and then worry about diff later.

If the diff centre in mine proves to be 4.5 you can have it. I shits me to tears.
It's either 4.3 or 4.5. either way it doesn't suit the car.
Beige.... The new Black!!!
awesome..
Yah my 4.1 shat itself on the weekend.
I have had a 4.3 which was great.. but a 4.5 wouldn't be really unusable.. should be great for response and acceleration

diff will not affect response. that is an engine characteristic.
diff will only affect the speed you can attain in each gear and the magnitude of acceleration in each gear...
whats the difference between 3rd gear with a lower diff and 4th gear with a higher diff if they both have the same overall ratio? nothing.
sure you get to row the gears more, but the reduction in top speed, and increase in engine rpm for any given speed...
ahh well, i guess you have made up your mind![]()

with a 4.3 i still could get about 90 in 2nd at 7800
and the 4.1 is about 95 to 100 at the sames revs same gear.
Not a great difference but 3rd gear and 4th acceleration was fantastic and it would still wind off the clock.

enter gearbox ratios and itll tell you want speed and wat rpm you'll have in wat gear!
possible 135mph top speed standard t50 ratio v's 4.5 diff ratio
110kmph 5th gear would be roughly 3950rpm. Baaaarrrp!
Hope it assist in someway
Cheers
