remove battery?
hey i just got home and turned my car off and noticed that the dash wont turn off!!
i've taken out the fuse and everything and its still on im confused????
Ryan
remove battery?
Cheers that has worked for now but can anyone tell me what the problem is??
dont worry i fixed it yay!!! it turns out that my auto power window button was stuck down which for some reason wasnt letting my dash turn off
so your speedo and stuff is lit of the whole thing, eg warning lights, are on? My first guess would be a turbo timer is installed without you knowing?
sencondly if the motor stops but the dash stays on, something weird is happening, if your check engine light is on then your ECU is still powered. maybe something has shorted and affected something. what on the dash satys on?
As far as i know the dash is powered straight of ig switch and the earth runs down near the ECU behind your glove box.

Everything the speedo but it reads 0, fuel, temp, the handbrake, oil, turbo light, tems,
and if you just turn the car to on without starting it does this happen also? that turbo light comming on is the thing that concerns me. maybe your ECU is unwell?

yeah thats right
what is right? is it EXACTLY the same as what happens when the car is on or is it different. I would think the case is something like maybe the ECU is outputting power on the IG line. A quick fix would be to wire a relay or something to the single earth wire off the dash, it will turn off, but the underlying problem as to why it is happening will not be fixed.
Have you done/ had something done to the car lately?

nah i just bought it like two weeks ago and this is the first time it has happened
i will try running the relay and let you know wat happens
cheers heaps
ok there is an earth on the connector pin behind the glove box.
check here http://toymods.org.au/Repository/Tec...connectors.pdf
page 4 pin 6. it should be that one, let me know if its not, however you must remeber that this is not a FIX, something is still wrong. just before you turn your car off rev it to about 2G, maybe there is a cheap turbo timer that takes a while to activate....

I've had similar happen with a faulty car stereo.
The car stereo had a short between +12V and the illumination wire and so the dash was permanently illuminated.
its a bit different in this case, the gz20 soarer (the car in question) has a full digital dash projected from above, it should completely shut down, his however stays on

when i went to go to work tonight i noticed a buzzing noise coming from somewhere inside the car and the keys were still in my pocket it turns out that my power windows auto down button was stuck on and when i unstuck it my dash turned off can anyone explain this???\
im glad its fixed but im still confused
cheers Ryan
there could be some sort of latching mech, although i highly doubt it. That lets you wind up the windows while turning the car off, it latches the power until it has finished. In your case it never did.
That is also a good way to ruin your window motors...
But i am glad its fixed
